About the Role:

As an Intern in one of our Optum teams, you will be provided opportunities to channel your curiosity into initiative, working alongside distinguished and experienced team members, pursuing innovations that improve the health care experience for everyone. Throughout your 10-week internship, you’ll gain invaluable experience and learn from leading innovators as a member of one or more of our many teams engaged in life-changing work.

At Optum, we offer internships in a wide variety of domains, as well as a development curriculum, mentoring from leaders, networking and collaboration opportunities and the ability to work remotely. The intent of our internship programme is to provide return internship opportunities or full-time employment at Optum, depending on eligibility.

Required Qualifications of the Internship Programme:

  • Currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technical discipline
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university during the duration of the internship (internships are not intended for graduates)

Preferred Qualifications of the Internship Programme:

  • Involvement in any additional technical activities (Robotics, Comp. Science/Tech clubs, Tech or Engineering side projects, GitHub, etc.) and/or tech related employment experience
  • Effective communication style to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in any of the following would be applicable for our tracks, and our team will discuss role fit with you depending on your skills and experience at the start of the application process:
    • Core programming concepts and at least one programming language (Example: Python, Java, Scala, C, SQL, .NET)
    • Data Discovery and Visualization tools e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, D3/JavaScript Visualization
    • AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing
    • Data manipulation with SQL, Spark and big data tools, data management and efficient storage methods
